Ramey LLP filed a patent infringement lawsuit on behalf of CyboEnergy, Inc. against Hoymiles Power Electronics USA, Inc. on June 27, 2023, in the Eastern District of Texas. The lawsuit states that Hoymiles Power Electronics USA, Inc. infringed on two of CyboEnergy, Inc.'s patents, namely U.S. Patent No. 8,786,133 and U.S. Patent No. 9,331,489.
The first patent, U.S. Patent No. 8,786,133, is titled "Smart and Scalable Power Inverters." The patent covers a system and method for controlling a power inverter in a solar power system. The system includes a controller that receives input from a sensor and determines whether to operate the inverter in a smart or scalable mode. In smart mode, the inverter operates to maximize power output under all lighting conditions. In scalable mode, the inverter operates to maximize power output under low lighting conditions.
The second patent, U.S. Patent No. 9,331,489, is titled "Maximizing Power Production at Low Sunlight by Solar Power Mini-Inverters." The patent covers a system and method for maximizing power production from a solar power system under low sunlight conditions. The system includes a controller that receives input from a sensor and determines whether to operate the inverters in a combined or separate mode. In combined mode, the inverters operate together to maximize power output. In separate mode, the inverters operate independently to maximize power output. To view full complaint click below.
