Ramey LLP filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. on August 11, 2023, in the Southern District of Texas. The lawsuit states that Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. infringes on VDPP LLC's Patent No. 9,426,452 for a "faster state transitioning for continuous adjustable 3Deeps filter spectacles using multilayered variable tint materials."

The patented technology is used to create sunglasses that can quickly and easily change tint to adapt to different lighting conditions. The technology is used in a variety of applications, including driving, sports, and outdoor activities.  VDPP LLC is seeking damages from Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. for patent infringement.
