On May 12, 2025, Ramey LLP filed a patent infringement lawsuit in the Western District of Texas, Midland/Odessa Division, on behalf of AML IP, LLC against Regal Cinemas, Inc. The lawsuit concerns the  infringement of U.S. Patent No. 7,177,838.

The patent at issue, titled “Method and Apparatus for Conducting Electronic Commerce Transactions Using Electronic Tokens,” covers technology that enables secure electronic transactions via the use of electronic tokens. AML IP, LLC claims that Regal Cinemas, Inc. has utilized this technology without proper authorization.
