KOJI IP, LLC Files Patent Infringement Lawsuit Against OSSIA INC. Over Wireless Power Transfer Technology

Posted by William P. Ramey III | Jul 19, 2025 | 0 Comments

Ramey LLP announces that its client, KOJI IP, LLC, has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against OSSIA INC. The lawsuit, aimed at protecting vital intellectual property in the cutting-edge field of wireless power, was lodged on May 27, 2025, in the Western District of Washington.

The legal action centers on the infringement of U.S. Patent No. 10,790,703, which covers "Smart wireless power transfer between devices." This patent protects innovative technologies related to wirelessly powering devices, enabling them to discover each other, communicate, and manage power transfer intelligently. This type of "smart" wireless power goes beyond basic inductive charging, allowing for more dynamic and efficient energy delivery without physical contact or even close proximity.

Ossia Inc. is a leading company in the wireless power industry, best known for its Cota® technology, which delivers wireless power over the air at a distance. Their solutions are designed to safely and continuously charge multiple devices without user intervention, aiming to create a truly wire-free and always-on connected world. Given Ossia's core business in developing and licensing wireless power technology, the '703 patent's scope on "smart wireless power transfer" appears to be highly relevant to their operations.

The Original Complaint and demand for a jury trial were filed by Ramey LLP on behalf of KOJI IP, LLC. The purpose of this legal action against OSSIA INC. is to seek relief from patent infringement and to vigorously protect KOJI IP's intellectual property rights.

This lawsuit highlights the ongoing efforts to define and defend intellectual property in the rapidly evolving landscape of wireless power. As the demand for seamless and ubiquitous charging solutions grows, the protection of foundational technologies in this space becomes increasingly critical. KOJI IP, LLC, with the representation of Ramey LLP, is committed to ensuring that its innovations in smart wireless power transfer are recognized and enforced.
