Ramey LLP Represents Client in Eastern District of Texas

Ramey LLP announced that its client, RANDOM CHAT LLC, has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS AMERICA, INC. The lawsuit, lodged in the Eastern District of Texas, Marshall Division, centers on the infringement of U.S. Patent No. 8,402,099.

The patent in question, U.S. Patent No. 8,402,099, broadly covers a “Method For Carrying Out A Multimedia Communication Based On A Network Protocol Particularly TCP/IP And/Or UDP.” This foundational technology is critical for modern digital interactions, enabling the transmission of various multimedia content, such as video, audio, and text chat, over standard internet protocols like TCP/IP and UDP.

RANDOM CHAT LLC initiated the legal proceedings by filing its Original Complaint and demand for a jury trial on June 12, 2025. The company is seeking relief from patent infringement and aims to protect its intellectual property rights.

Samsung Electronics America, Inc. is a major global technology company, manufacturing a vast array of products including smartphones, tablets, televisions, and smart home devices. Many of these products and the services they enable heavily rely on multimedia communication over network protocols. For instance, video calls on Samsung smartphones, streaming content on Samsung smart TVs, or communication features within various Samsung applications would likely involve the very technologies covered by the '099 patent.

Ramey LLP will be representing RANDOM CHAT LLC throughout the legal process. The firm is committed to diligently pursuing relief on behalf of its client, with the goal of safeguarding RANDOM CHAT's innovative contributions to multimedia communication technology and addressing any infringement by SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS AMERICA, INC.

The Eastern District of Texas, Marshall Division, is a well-known venue for patent litigation, recognized for its specialized patent rules and often efficient case progression. This lawsuit underscores the ongoing importance of intellectual property protection in the fiercely competitive global technology market, where the proper use and licensing of foundational communication technologies are paramount.
